The name ‘Tox’ speaks for itself. Tox Brewing draws its recipes and beer names from poisons, deadly plants, and antidotes, and if you’re on Untappd, you know that Tox routinely dominates Community Awards, and for good reason.
Maybe you’ve tried their fan favorite, Dart Frog, an American IPA that’s become famous for its New Zealand hops and pillowy mouthfeel. Or maybe you’ve had a pour from their popular Lily of the Valley series, a signature rotating lineup of fruited Berliner Weisse-style sour ales.
You might have heard their name at other CT breweries, too: they recently collaborated with Caius Farm Brewery (one of this writer’s CT favorites) on Theriac, an Imperial IPA brewed with Nelson, Waimea, Citra, and Riwaka hops, and with Little House Brewing to release Chips & Dip, a kettle-soured ale featuring tortilla chips, mango, hot peppers, key lime, and sea salt. Or perhaps you’ve attended their annual Toxtoberfest event or one of their popular Botanicals & Brews artisan plant markets.
In 2024, Tox moved from its smaller Broad Street location to 123 Bank Street in downtown New London, taking over an expansive 14,000-square-foot space that includes a dedicated barrel-aging room and a stage for live entertainment. They also recently celebrated their 7th ‘Toxiversary’ in April. Looking back at everything Tox Brewing has accomplished in just seven years (!) I can’t wait to see what’s next.
